CAL FIRE Awards Danti in Global Space-Based Development Challenge

Danti is proud to announce that it has been selected by The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), in collaboration with the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation and the Earth Fire Alliance, as a winner in the Global Space-Based Development Challenge, a competition focused on one of the most urgent and consequential problems of our time: building the next-generation data infrastructure for space-based wildfire intelligence.

Wildfires are increasing in frequency, intensity, and unpredictability. Responding effectively requires more than just more data, it requires the ability to make sense of it instantly. The Challenge calls for solutions that can ingest real-time satellite and sensor data, manage it securely across hybrid environments and, most critically, deliver mission-ready insights to the firefighters, analysts, and leaders who must act within minutes, not hours.

Delivering Intelligence, Not Just Data

Billions of dollars are spent every year collecting global data from satellites, aerial platforms, sensor networks, weather feeds, perimeter reports, social media, and more. Yet most of that data sits in silos, legacy systems, or platforms built for technical experts, not frontline operators. The Danti Knowledge Engine gives non-technical users instant access to multimodal data including imagery, weather, fire risk models, news, sensor alerts, even structured and unstructured reports and transforms it into contextual answers in seconds. Instead of searching across dozens of tools or waiting for analysts to preprocess data, users can monitor active fires or review historical fires in one location. Users can:
  • Identify individual fire locations
  • Review geolocated YouTube and social media for real time updates from the field 
  • Save searches, share with the team or make it a recurring search to monitor over time 
  • Review the extent of the fire based on satellite data
  • Identify local population centers near the fire
  • Identify nearby points of interest (schools, airports, and hospitals, for example)
  • Identify at risk population centers based on weather and conditions
